Whilst you may legally require mains operated alarms in the building battery operated alarms can be used as back-up and in hard to reach places. The Lento alarm, inspired by the shape of a Moth, comes in pink, which is perfect for the kids bedrooms, and also black, which is perfect for the grown-ups study area! It can be mounted on the top of a wall, as shown here, but it is highly recommended you always mount a smoke alarm on the ceiling.
