So it looks like we are all going green next year!
Pantone have announced that Greenery (or Pantone 15-0343) as their Colour of the Year 2017. Described as a “fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring, when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew”. This vibrant shade provides us with a reconnection with nature, at a time according to the Pantone Institute’s Vice President Laurie Pressman that “we are so submerged in our routines and tethered to devices” that we have a great desire to “disconnect and replenish”.
What is the Pantone Colour of the Year?
For the past 16 years, Pantone has released a colour of the year, a colour that they believe embodies a “snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture, that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.” A colour that in the year to come will appear in all aspects of life from fashion, to design, to technology to interiors. Last year Pantone mixed it up a bit and choose two colours (and our personal favourite Pantone colour choices so far!): Rose Quartz and Serenity, these soft shades represented the concepts of balance, duality and peace, as well as the shifting gender identities redefining both fashion and the world. In response to this years social and political turmoil and complexity, Pantone have chosen, Greenery, is an optimistic and bright shade, symbolic of new beginnings and revitalization, to “provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for”.
